About Robert Sands ...

Business Developer, Coach & Entrepreneur, Robert has more than 20 years experience in fundraising development, philanthropy, sales, management, and entrepreneurship; working with well-known and respected companies in the technology and non-profit sectors.  Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Villanova University and is currently pursuing his Masters in Industrial & Organizational Psychology.

Robert has become an expert in creating and motivating Executive and Professional staff engaged in fundraising efforts to support their respective mission, which focuses on the ongoing counsel for the acquisition and retention of high-potential donors and philanthropists.  


He has become specialist in working with fundraisers on building stewardship, moves-management and eFundrasing strategies.  As a founder of Sandmark Associates, Robert is using his experience to assist start-up and established Non-profits by supporting them through the five-step On>Course program, where he has developed a unique methodology which includes strategy, training and coaching.

Robert has served as a development, sales and executive roles for a number of organizations, including:

At the Hyde School, Robert served as Director of Development & Alumni Relations where he was as the senior development officer responsible for annual fund, capital and restricted campaigns, planned giving and alumni relations for tax exempt college preparatory school.


Additionally, Robert has extensive experience in various capacities in the technology sector, including President, CEO and Founder of Sandcastle Technologies, Inc., a Kansas City-based business incubator, where he assisted entrepreneurs with start-up activities, including, sales, marketing, information technology and operations. His clients included Biotechnology, Internet and eLearning companies, and served as President and CEO of Vicina.com, a Sandcastle managed company, an internet startup that provides web services to neighborhood homes associations.


Other technology capacities included: Cisco Systems, as the Midwest sales director where he managed a 100-person sales force and engineering team for Enterprise customers; Vice-president of worldwide sales for Chicago-based Participate Systems (now Outstart), a sales force knowledge management software company, where he directed national and international sales efforts to global 1,000 and leading dot-com companies; and, Regional director of sales for NetIQ Corporation, a systems and security management software company based in San Jose, where he directed top-line revenue activates with a team of sales professionals and system engineers in the upper Midwest.
